Radan's love for cinematography started very early on, in high school. Coming from both artistic and scientific parents, it was quite natural for him to combine the two and to dedicate his life to the art of cinematography. While still studying the craft at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts of the Belgrade University, Radan worked on a documentary in Libya on Colonel Gaddafi, was second unit cinematographer on a feature of a renowned director Srdjan Karanović and shot his first feature film The Fall of Rock’n’Roll. From then on he collaborated with numerous directors in his native country where he still, to this day occasionally works. Loving Glances, the film Radan shot later for Mr. Karanović was in the official selection of the Venice International Film Festival. For his creative efforts in, Radan was also awarded a membership in the honorary Serbian Society of Cinematographers. Upon moving to the US, Radan worked both in film and advertising. He shot several indie films such as Cashmere, Baby Doll Forever, Speechless…, numerous documentaries, commercials and many award winning shorts. Radan frequently also collaborates with Alexander Payne as his Second Unit Director of Photography and has worked in this capacity on such acclaimed films as Election, About Schmidt, The Descendants, Nebraska and the upcoming Downsizing starring Matt Damon. Radan worked closely with Phedon Papamichael, ASC on “Nebraska” which was nominated for Best Cinematography at the Academy Awards.
